What does this fault code mean?
The fault code means the signal from the front right seat belt tensioner is too low. It is caused by a short to ground, meaning contact with the vehicle body, in the connector, in the signal wire or in the tensioner itself. The fault is intermittent, so it comes and goes.
Possible causes
- Short circuit to ground in the connector at the seat belt tensioner
- The signal wire from the SRS control module to the seat belt tensioner is shorted to ground
- Short circuit to ground inside the seat belt tensioner
What you can do
- 1Read off the fault code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it comes back
- 2Have a workshop check the connectors at the SRS control module and the seat belt tensioner for oxidation and poor contact
- 3Have a workshop check that the signal wire between the control module and the seat belt tensioner does not intermittently touch ground
- 4Do not work on the airbag system or the seat belt tensioners yourself; leave the checks to a workshop
