Volvo models this fault code applies to
This fault code has different meanings depending on model, model year or engine. Select the meaning that applies to your car.
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2001–2009), S80 (1999–2006), V70 (2000–2008), V70 XC / XC70 (2001–2007), XC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
This code applies to the circuit to the front right seat belt tensioner, where the capacitance is too low. In other words, the electrical property of the circuit differs from normal for a while. The fault is intermittent, so it comes and goes.
Possible causes
- Capacitance too low in the connector
- The signal wire running to the SRS control module has too low capacitance
What you can do
- 1Read off the fault code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it comes back
- 2Have a workshop check the connectors at the tensioner and the SRS control module for oxidation and contact resistance
- 3Have a workshop look for an intermittent open circuit in the wire between the control module and the tensioner, and repair what is found
- 4Have a workshop measure the built-in capacitor in the tensioner connector
- 5Do not work on the airbag system or the seat belt tensioners yourself; leave the checks to a workshop
Symptoms you may notice1
- SRS warning lamp on
