What does this fault code mean?
This code applies to the front right seat belt tensioner. The SRS control module reacts when the resistance in the wiring circuit stays too low for a while. The fault is intermittent, so it comes and goes and does not always show.
Possible causes
- The connector is shorted to ground
- The signal wire to the tensioner is shorted to ground
- The tensioner itself is shorted to ground inside, which makes the igniter resistance too low
What you can do
- 1Read off the fault code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it comes back
- 2Have a workshop check that the connectors are firmly seated and free from oxidation
- 3Have a workshop look for an intermittent short to ground in the wire to the tensioner, and repair what is found
- 4Do not work on the airbag system or the seat belt tensioners yourself; leave the checks to a workshop
