What does this fault code mean?
The fault applies to the rear left seat belt tensioner and is intermittent. The SRS control module reacts when the resistance in the wiring circuit stays too high for a while, which can come from contact resistance or an open circuit.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance, or an open circuit in the wire between the rear left tensioner and the SRS control module
- An open circuit in the rear left tensioner, which gives too high resistance in the igniter
What you can do
- 1Read off the fault code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it comes back
- 2Have a workshop look at the connectors at both ends for contact resistance and oxidation
- 3Have a workshop check the wire between the control module and the tensioner for an intermittent open circuit, and repair what is found
- 4Do not work on the airbag system or the seat belt tensioners yourself; leave the checks to a workshop
