Volvo models this fault code applies to
This fault code has different meanings depending on model, model year or engine. Select the meaning that applies to your car.
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2001–2009), S80 (1999–2006), V70 (2000–2008), V70 XC / XC70 (2001–2007), XC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
The circuit to the rear right seat belt tensioner has too low capacitance for a longer period. Capacitance is the circuit's ability to store electrical charge. The fault is intermittent, meaning it has occurred at some point but may not be present now. The cause is in the connector or in the signal wire to the SRS control module.
Possible causes
- Capacitance too low in the connector
- Capacitance too low in the signal cable running to the SRS control module
What you can do
- 1Have a workshop check that the connector to the rear right seat belt tensioner is fully engaged and not oxidised
- 2Have a workshop check the connector at the airbag control module for contact resistance and oxidation
- 3Have a workshop check breaks, chafing and loose contacts in the wire between the control module and the seat belt tensioner
- 4Have a workshop check the wiring with diagnostic equipment if the fault returns
- 5Do not work on the airbag system yourself; have a workshop check it
Symptoms you may notice1
