Volvo models this fault code applies to
This fault code has different meanings depending on model, model year or engine. Select the meaning that applies to your car.
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2001–2009), S80 (1999–2006), V70 (2000–2008), V70 XC / XC70 (2001–2007), XC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
The resistance in the wire to the rear right seat belt tensioner has been too high for a longer period, which suggests contact resistance or an open circuit. The fault is stored as intermittent, so it has occurred at some point but may not be present now. The cause may be an open circuit in the seat belt tensioner, where the resistance in the igniter is too high.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or open circuit in the lead running to the SRS control module
- Open circuit in the seat belt tensioner, with resistance too high in the igniter
What you can do
- 1Have a workshop check the connector at the rear right tensioner for oxidation and contact resistance
- 2Have a workshop check the connector on the airbag control module in the same way
- 3Have a workshop check breaks, chafing or pinched sections in the wire between the control module and the seat belt tensioner
- 4If the fault returns, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the wire for an intermittent open circuit and the seat belt tensioner
- 5Do not work on the airbag system yourself; have a workshop check it
