This fault code has different meanings depending on model, model year or engine. Select the meaning that applies to your car.
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2001–2009), S80 (1999–2006), V70 (2000–2008), V70 XC / XC70 (2001–2007), XC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
The resistance in the wiring circuit to the rear right seat belt tensioner has been too low for a longer period, which suggests a short circuit. The fault is stored as intermittent, so it has occurred at some point but may not be present now. The cause can be in the connector, in the signal wire to the SRS control module or in the seat belt tensioner.
Possible causes
- Short circuit in the connector
- Short circuit in the signal cable running to the SRS control module
- Short circuit in the seat belt tensioner, with resistance too low in the igniter
What you can do
- 1Have a workshop check that the connector to the rear right seat belt tensioner is fully engaged and free from oxidation
- 2Have a workshop check chafed or pinched sections of the wire between the control module and the seat belt tensioner
- 3Have a workshop check the connector at the airbag control module for loose contact and oxidation
- 4Have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the wire for an intermittent short circuit to ground
- 5Do not work on the airbag system yourself; have a workshop check it
