Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2001–2009), S80 (1999–2006), V70 (2000–2008), V70 XC / XC70 (2001–2007), XC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
The voltage in the signal wire to the seat belt tensioner on the right side of the third seat row has been too high for a longer period, which suggests a short circuit to voltage. The cause may be in the connector, in the tensioner or in the wire to the airbag control module. The code gives a general warning lamp.
Possible causes
- Short circuit to voltage in the signal lead running to the SRS control module
- Short circuit to voltage in the connector
- Short circuit to voltage in the tensioner
What you can do
- 1Have a workshop check the connector at the tensioner on the right side of the third seat row: it should be fully engaged and not oxidised
- 2Have a workshop check chafed or pinched sections of the wire between the tensioner and the control module
- 3If the code changes from permanent to intermittent, the tensioner may be faulty; have a workshop try a new one
- 4Have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the wire for a short circuit to voltage if the fault remains
- 5Do not work on the airbag system yourself; have a workshop check it
Symptoms you may notice1
- The general warning lamp is on
