Volvo models this fault code applies to
This fault code has different meanings depending on model, model year or engine. Select the meaning that applies to your car.
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2001–2009), S80 (1999–2006), V70 (2000–2008), V70 XC / XC70 (2001–2007), XC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
The capacitance in the circuit to the seat belt tensioner on the right side of the third seat row is too high. Capacitance is the circuit's ability to store electrical charge. The cause is either too high capacitance or a short circuit in the built-in capacitor in the connector to the igniter cable.
Possible causes
- Capacitance too high
- Short circuit in the built-in capacitor in the connector to the igniter cable
What you can do
- 1Have a workshop check that the connector at the right tensioner in the third row is fully engaged and not oxidised
- 2Have a workshop check damage on the connector to the igniter cable, where the built-in capacitor sits
- 3If the code changes from permanent to intermittent, the tensioner may be faulty; have a workshop try a new one
- 4Have a workshop with diagnostic equipment measure the capacitor in the connector if the fault remains
- 5Do not work on the airbag system yourself; have a workshop check it
