This fault code has different meanings depending on model, model year or engine. Select the meaning that applies to your car.
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2001–2009), S80 (1999–2006), V70 (2000–2008), V70 XC / XC70 (2001–2007), XC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
The resistance in the wire to the seat belt tensioner on the right side of the third seat row has been too low for a longer period, which suggests a short circuit. The cause can be in the connector, in the signal lead to the airbag control module or in the tensioner. The code gives a general warning lamp.
Possible causes
- Short circuit in the connector
- Short circuit in the signal lead running from the tensioner to the SRS control module
- Short circuit in the tensioner, with resistance too low in the igniter
What you can do
- 1Have a workshop check the connector at the tensioner on the right side of the third seat row: it should be fully engaged and not oxidised
- 2Have a workshop check chafed or pinched sections on the wire between the tensioner and the control module
- 3If the code changes from permanent to intermittent, the tensioner may be faulty; have a workshop try a new one
- 4Have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the wire for a short circuit if the fault remains
- 5Do not work on the airbag system yourself; have a workshop check it
