What does this fault code mean?
The SRS control module does not receive the CAN signal from the central electronic module (CEM) that shows the status of the front seat belt buckle. The fault is intermittent, meaning it comes and goes, and the code is set when the signal is missing. It can be caused by an open circuit in the CAN cable or a faulty CEM.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the CAN cable
- Faulty central electronic module (CEM)
What you can do
- 1Read the fault codes with diagnostic equipment and note them
- 2Rectify the fault codes in the central electronic module (CEM) before clearing the SRS fault code
- 3Have a workshop check the CAN cable between the CEM and the SRS module for an open circuit
- 4If the cable is intact, have a workshop check the central electronic module (CEM)
- 5The airbag system is a job for a workshop; do not work on it yourself
