What does this fault code mean?
The restraint system has registered that the ignition circuit to the passenger airbag (stage 1) is short-circuited to a voltage source. The fault is intermittent, so it has occurred at some point but may not be there now. The cause lies in the wiring between the airbag and the control module, or in the airbag itself.
Possible causes
- Short circuit to voltage in the ignition cable or in the connectors between the airbag and the restraint system control module
- Short circuit to voltage in the airbag
What you can do
- 1Read off the code and clear it to see whether it returns
- 2If the code comes back, pass it to a workshop; the wiring and the airbag are what needs checking there
- 3Have the workshop check the connectors in the ignition circuit as well
- 4Do not work on the airbag wiring yourself; this is a workshop job
