What does this fault code mean?
The SRS has registered that the resistance in the igniter circuit for the right side impact airbag (SIPS bag) is too high. This can be caused by a break in the wiring, poor contact or a faulty SIPS bag. The fault is intermittent, so it may not be present right now.
Possible causes
- An open wire, or resistance build-up at the contacts linking the SIPS bag to the SRS control module
- Break in the SIPS bag, giving too high resistance in the igniter
What you can do
- 1Have a workshop visually check the connector under the right seat and the connector to the SRS control module for loose, oxidised or corroded contacts
- 2Have a workshop examine the wiring between the seat and the SRS control module for chafing, crush damage and damaged insulation
- 3Clear the code and see if it comes back
- 4If it comes back, have a workshop measure the circuit and check the SIPS bag with diagnostic equipment
- 5Do not work on the airbag system yourself; have a workshop check it
Symptoms you may notice1
- The SRS warning lamp is on
