What does this fault code mean?
The supplemental restraint system (SRS) has received a message that the voltage in the occupant weight sensor (OWS) is too low. The fault may be in the sensor itself or in a short-circuit to ground in the signal cable. The passenger airbag is deactivated, and the SRS and PAD lamps come on.
Possible causes
- Damaged occupant weight sensor (OWS)
- Signal wire or plug shorted to ground between the parts of the OWS
What you can do
- 1Read and clear the code, and check whether it returns after a restart
- 2Have a workshop check the wiring between the pressure sensor and the occupant weight sensor for short-circuits to ground and for open circuits
- 3Have a workshop replace the pressure sensor and the occupant weight sensor if no wiring fault is found, then configure SRS and calibrate
- 4Do not work on the airbag system yourself; have a workshop carry out all work on the SRS and airbags
Symptoms you may notice2
- SRS warning lamp on
- Passenger airbag deactivation (PAD) lamp on
What the fault can affect1
