Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2001–2009), S80 (1999–2006), V70 (2000–2008), V70 XC / XC70 (2001–2007), XC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
The supplemental restraint system (SRS) watches the LIN link to the occupant weight sensor (OWS). A code is stored when the voltage from the sensor is too low or missing. The passenger airbag is then deactivated, and the warning lamps come on along with an SRS warning message.
Possible causes
- An open or short circuit in the LIN communication wire or its connectors to the SRS module
- The occupant weight sensor (OWS) itself is damaged
What you can do
- 1Read and clear the code, and check whether it returns after a restart
- 2Have a workshop check the wire between the pressure sensor and the OWS for shorts to ground or supply voltage, and for breaks
- 3If needed, have a workshop replace the pressure sensor and the OWS, then configure SRS by storing the ID number and calibrate the sensor
- 4Only a workshop should work on the SRS or the airbags; do not attempt any of this yourself
Symptoms you may notice3
- SRS warning lamp on
- Passenger airbag deactivation (PAD) lamp on
- An SRS warning message is shown
What the fault can affect1
