Applies to the following models:

What does this fault code mean?
In the stage 1 driver airbag circuit, the SRS module measures resistance. The code is stored if the resistance stays too low for too long. The cause is a short-circuit in the wiring, the connections, the airbag or the clockspring.
Possible causes
- The wiring is shorted
- Short-circuit at the connections
- Short-circuit in the driver's airbag, where the igniter has too low a resistance
- Short-circuit in the clockspring in the steering wheel
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and test drive to see whether it returns
- 2Have a workshop check the wires and connections between the SRS module and the driver's airbag, stage 1, for shorts to other wires in the circuit
- 3If the wiring is free of faults, have a workshop replace the driver's airbag
- 4Leave all work on the airbag system to a workshop and do nothing yourself
Symptoms you may notice3
- SRS warning lamp on
- An SRS warning message is shown
- Yellow warning symbol and text message shown in the display
