What does this fault code mean?
The supplemental restraint system (SRS) measures DC voltage in the circuit to the stage 2 driver airbag. The voltage stays too low for too long, which is caused by a short-circuit to ground in that circuit.
Possible causes
- Cable shorted to earth
- Contact resistance or oxidation at the terminals
- Short-circuit at the connectors
- Clockspring shorted to earth in the steering wheel
What you can do
- 1Read and clear the code, then test drive to see whether it returns
- 2Have a workshop check the wire and connectors to the stage 2 driver airbag for a short to ground
- 3If the wire is sound, have a workshop replace the stage 2 driver airbag
- 4Airbags and their wiring should only be handled by a workshop
Symptoms you may notice3
- SRS warning lamp on
- An SRS warning message is shown
- Warning symbol and text message shown in the display
