What does this fault code mean?
The SRS checks the DC level on the wire feeding the driver's side knee airbag. The code is stored if the voltage is too low for too long, which indicates a short to ground.
Possible causes
- Wire shorted to earth
- Contact resistance or oxidation at the connections
- Short-circuit inside the connectors
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and drive the car to see whether it returns
- 2Have a workshop look over the connectors linking the control module and the airbag, including contact resistance and oxidation, and the wire for a short to ground
- 3If the wire is sound, have a workshop replace the driver's side knee airbag
- 4The battery must be disconnected before any work on the airbag system, or the airbag could deploy by accident; a workshop should do this
Symptoms you may notice2
- Yellow warning symbol and text message in the display
- SRS indicator lamp lit or behaving abnormally
