Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
2 modelsV40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–)
Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
The SRS measures resistance in the driver's side knee airbag circuit. If the resistance stays above the limit for too long, the code is stored. The fault is an open circuit in the wire or the airbag, or high contact resistance at the connections.
Possible causes
- Break in the wire
- Contact resistance or oxidation at the terminals
- Break inside the driver's side knee airbag, where the igniter section has too high a resistance
What you can do
- 1Read and clear the code, then test drive to see whether it comes back
- 2Have a workshop check the connections visually for contact resistance and oxidation, and the wire for an open circuit
- 3If the wire is intact, have a workshop replace the driver's side knee airbag
- 4Battery disconnection is required before airbag work, or the airbag could deploy by accident; a workshop should do this
Symptoms you may notice2
- Yellow warning symbol and text message in the display
- SRS indicator lamp lit or behaving abnormally
