Applies to the following models:
7 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The SRS module measures DC voltage in the circuit to the adaptive steering column. The voltage stays too low for too long, which is caused by a short to ground in the wiring.
Possible causes
- Wire shorted to earth
- Contact resistance or oxidation at the connections
- Short-circuit at the terminals
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and test drive to see whether it returns
- 2Have a workshop check the contacts between the SRS module and the adaptive steering column, including contact resistance and oxidation, and the wire for a short to ground
- 3Have a workshop replace the adaptive steering column if the wire is sound
- 4The SRS belongs to a workshop; do nothing on it yourself
Symptoms you may notice2
- SRS warning lamp on
- An SRS warning message is shown
