System
Supplemental Restraint System (SRS)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
7 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The SRS measures resistance in the adaptive steering column circuit. If the resistance stays too high for too long, the code is stored. The fault is an open circuit in the wire or the column, or high contact resistance in the connectors.
Possible causes
- Break in the wire
- Poor contact or oxidation in the connectors
- Open circuit in the adaptive steering column, where the igniter section has too high a resistance
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and test drive to see whether it comes back
- 2Have a workshop check the connectors for loose contacts, oxidation and contact resistance, and the wire for breaks
- 3If the wire is intact, have a workshop replace the adaptive steering column
- 4Do not handle the SRS yourself; a workshop should do all such work
Symptoms you may notice2
- SRS warning lamp on
- An SRS warning message is shown
