Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
9 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The SRS measures resistance in the stage 1 driver airbag circuit. Although the code is named for the passenger side, the condition applies to the driver's airbag. If the resistance stays too high for too long, the cause is an open circuit or high contact resistance.
Possible causes
- Break in the wire
- Contact resistance or oxidation at the connections
- Open circuit in the stage 1 airbag, where the igniter has too high a resistance
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and test drive to see whether it returns
- 2Have a workshop check the connectors for loose contacts, oxidation and contact resistance, and the wire for breaks
- 3If the wire is intact, have a workshop replace the stage 1 airbag in that circuit
- 4Leave all work on the SRS to a workshop
Symptoms you may notice4
- SRS warning lamp on
- An SRS warning message is shown
- Warning symbol and text message in the display
- SRS indicator lamp lit or behaving abnormally
