Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
9 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The airbag control module (SRS) measures the resistance in the circuit to the right front side airbag. The code is stored when the resistance is too low. The cause is a short circuit in the wiring, in the connections, or in the airbag itself.
Possible causes
- Short circuit in the wiring to the right front side airbag
- Short circuit in the connections
- Short circuit in the right front side airbag, in its igniter part
What you can do
- 1Read out the fault code and clear it. If it comes back, the fault is still present.
- 2Have a workshop check the wiring between the control module and the right front side airbag for short circuits to other wires in the circuit.
- 3Have a workshop check the connections at the control module and at the airbag so that they are secure and not oxidised.
- 4If the fault is still present after the wiring and connections have been checked, have a workshop replace the right front side airbag.
- 5Do not work on the airbag system yourself; have a workshop carry out the checks.
Symptoms you may notice4
- SRS warning light on
- SRS warning message shown in the display
- Warning symbol and text message in the display
