Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
9 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The airbag control module (SRS) measures the resistance in the circuit to the right front side airbag. The code is stored when the resistance is too high, which is caused by a break in the wiring, poor contact at the connections, or a break in the airbag itself.
Possible causes
- Break in the wiring
- Contact resistance or oxidation at the connections
- Break in the right front side airbag (resistance too high in the igniter section)
What you can do
- 1Read out the fault code and clear it. If it comes back, the fault is still present.
- 2Have a workshop check the wiring to the right front side airbag for a break.
- 3Have a workshop check the connectors in the harness between the control module and the airbag for loose contact, oxidation and poor contact.
- 4If the wiring and connectors are sound, have a workshop replace the right front side airbag.
- 5Do not work on the airbag system yourself; have a workshop carry out the checks.
Symptoms you may notice4
- SRS warning light on
- SRS warning message shown in the display
- Warning symbol and text message in the display
- Warning lights and chimes for the airbag system come on or behave abnormally
