Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
9 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The airbag control module (SRS) measures the resistance in the circuit to the right curtain airbag. The code is stored when the resistance is too low. The cause is a short circuit in the wiring, in the connections, or in the curtain airbag itself.
Possible causes
- The wiring is short-circuited.
- Short circuit in the connections.
- Short circuit in the right curtain airbag (resistance too low in the igniter section).
What you can do
- 1Read out the fault code and clear it. If it comes back, the fault is still present.
- 2Have a workshop check the wiring between the control module and the right curtain airbag for short circuits to other wires.
- 3Have a workshop check that the connections between the control module and the curtain airbag are secure and free from oxidation.
- 4If the fault is still present once the wiring and connections are checked, have a workshop replace the right curtain airbag.
- 5Do not work on the airbag system yourself; have a workshop carry out the checks.
Symptoms you may notice4
- SRS warning light on
- SRS warning message shown in the display
- Warning symbol and text message in the display
- Warning lights and chimes for the airbag system come on or behave abnormally
