Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
7 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The fault is sub-fault B of the driver's lap seat belt pretensioner. The airbag control module measures the resistance in the circuit and stores the code when it is too low. The causes are short-circuited wires and connections, or a short circuit in the pretensioner itself.
Possible causes
- The wires are short-circuited.
- Short circuit in the connections.
- Short circuit in the driver's lap pretensioner, in its igniter part.
What you can do
- 1Read out the fault code and clear it. If it comes back, the fault is still present.
- 2Have a workshop check the connectors at the control module and at the lap pretensioner for looseness and oxidation.
- 3Have a workshop check the wire to the pretensioner for a short circuit to other wires in the circuit.
- 4If the fault is still present once the wiring has been checked, have a workshop replace the driver's lap pretensioner.
- 5Do not work on seat belt pretensioners or the airbag system yourself; have a workshop carry out the checks.
