System
Supplemental Restraint System (SRS)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
9 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The supplemental restraint system module (SRS) measures the resistance in the circuit to the driver's adaptive force limiter. The code is stored when the resistance is too high and the incorrect value has persisted for a while. The cause may be an open circuit in the wire, contact resistance in the connections or an open circuit in the force limiter.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the wire
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connections
- Open circuit in the driver's adaptive force limiter (resistance too high in the igniter section)
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it, and see whether it returns
- 2Have a workshop check that the connectors are secure and free from oxidation and contact resistance
- 3Have a workshop check the wire for an open circuit and repair what is found
- 4Have a workshop replace the adaptive force limiter if it is faulty
- 5Do not work on the airbag system yourself; have a workshop check it
Symptoms you may notice3
- The SRS warning light comes on or behaves abnormally
- An SRS warning message is shown
- A warning symbol and a text message are shown
