SRS-B00821A - Passenger Seatbelt Load Limiter Deployment Control. General Electrical Failures. Circuit resistance below threshold
System
Supplemental Restraint System (SRS)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
9 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The supplemental restraint system module (SRS) measures the resistance in the circuit to the adaptive force limiter on the front passenger seat. The code is stored when the resistance is too low and the incorrect value has persisted for a while. The fault may be in the wiring, in the connections or in the force limiter.
Possible causes
- Short circuit in the wiring
- Short circuit in the connections
- Short circuit in the adaptive force limiter on the front passenger (resistance too low in the igniter section)
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it, and see whether it returns
- 2Have a workshop visually check the connections between the module and the force limiter, including contact resistance and oxidation
- 3Have a workshop check that the wires in the circuit are not shorted to other wires and repair what is found
- 4Have a workshop replace the front passenger's force limiter if needed
- 5Do not work on the airbag system yourself; have a workshop check it
Symptoms you may notice3
- The SRS warning light comes on or behaves abnormally
- An SRS warning message is shown
- A warning symbol and a text message are shown
