What does this fault code mean?
The supplemental restraint system module (SRS) checks the occupant weight sensor (OWS). The code is stored when the sensor has not been calibrated and the incorrect value has persisted for a while. The cause is that calibration is missing or has failed.
Possible causes
- Calibration not completed
- Calibration failed
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it, and see whether it returns
- 2Have a workshop calibrate the occupant weight sensor with the front passenger seat fully unoccupied, otherwise the calibration is wrong and the restraint system may not work correctly
- 3If other fault codes for the occupant weight sensor are stored, have those dealt with first, since calibration can only be done on a sensor that is otherwise fault-free
- 4Do not work on the airbag system yourself; have a workshop check it
Symptoms you may notice3
- The SRS warning light comes on
- An SRS warning message is shown
- The PAD lamp comes on
