What does this fault code mean?
The supplemental restraint system module (SRS) monitors the communication link to the occupant weight sensor (OWS). The code is stored when there is no communication and the fault has persisted for a while. The cause may be an open circuit on the local CAN network, contact resistance in the connections, or an open circuit in the supply or ground lead to the sensor.
Possible causes
- Open circuit on the local CAN network
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connections
- Open circuit in the supply lead to the occupant weight sensor (OWS)
- Open circuit in the ground wire to the occupant weight sensor (OWS)
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it, and see whether it returns
- 2Have a workshop check the connectors at the occupant weight sensor and the SRS module for looseness, oxidation and contact resistance
- 3Have a workshop check the power supply and ground connection to the occupant weight sensor and the wires for open circuits
- 4Have a workshop check the communication wires between the SRS module and the occupant weight sensor
- 5Do not work on the airbag system yourself; have a workshop check it
Symptoms you may notice3
- The SRS warning light comes on
- An SRS warning message is shown
- The PAD lamp comes on
