What does this fault code mean?
This is an event-driven information code linked to the passenger airbag disable and enable lamps (PAD and PAE). It does not point to a fault in the airbag control module itself. It reports that the overhead console unit (OHC) has detected a fault affecting those lamps, with the request to switch them passing through the central electronic module (CEM).
Possible causes
- Fault in the CAN communication between the airbag control module and the central electronic module (CEM)
- Fault on the LIN link between the CEM and the overhead console unit (OHC)
- The PAD and PAE lamps are faulty
- The central electronic module (CEM) is damaged
- The airbag control module is damaged
- The overhead console control module (OHC) is damaged
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and see whether it comes back
- 2Have a workshop test the CEM for HS-CAN faults on the link to the airbag control module
- 3Have a workshop test the LIN link running from the CEM to the overhead console unit, and check the CEM for overhead-console faults
- 4Have a workshop correct the fault after troubleshooting
- 5Do not work on the airbag system yourself; have a workshop carry out the troubleshooting
Symptoms you may notice2
- Text message or warning symbol in the display
- SRS warning lamp lights up or behaves abnormally
