What does this fault code mean?
The airbag control module (SRS) checks the wire carrying the crash signal to the central electronic module (CEM). The voltage is too low, which can be caused by the wire being short-circuited to ground (the body) or by poor contact in the connections.
Possible causes
- Wire short-circuited to ground (the body)
- Short circuit in the connections
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connections
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and see whether it comes back
- 2Have a workshop check the connectors between the airbag control module and the central electronic module (CEM) for looseness, oxidation and contact resistance
- 3If the car has a telephone control unit (PHM), have a workshop check its connector as well
- 4Have a workshop check the crash signal wire for a short to ground
- 5Have a workshop correct the fault and confirm the code does not come back
- 6Do not work on the airbag system yourself; have a workshop carry out the check and the repair
Symptoms you may notice2
