What does this fault code mean?
The airbag control module (SRS) monitors the wire carrying the crash signal to the central electronic module (CEM). The fault is stored when the signal is too high, which can be caused by the wire having come into contact with voltage, a short circuit in the connections, or contact resistance and oxidation.
Possible causes
- Wire short-circuited to voltage
- Short circuit in the connections
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connections
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and see whether it comes back
- 2Have a workshop check the connectors between the airbag control module and the central electronic module (CEM) and look for looseness and oxidation
- 3If the car has a telephone control unit (PHM), have a workshop check its connector as well
- 4Have a workshop check the signal wire for contact with voltage
- 5Have a workshop correct the fault and confirm the code does not come back
- 6Do not work on the airbag system yourself; have a workshop carry out the check and the repair
