- Open-circuit in one or both CAN wires in part of the network
What you can do
- 1Read out all fault codes in the car and start with those relating to communication faults
- 2Have a workshop measure the resistance of the CAN wiring and check for open-circuits in the part of the network where the fault may be
- 3Have a workshop check connectors and wiring along that route and repair any damage
- 4After a repair, erase the code and see whether it returns
- 5Do not work on the airbag system yourself; have a workshop carry out all wiring and control module checks
Symptoms you may notice2
- Text message in the display
- The SRS warning light comes on or behaves abnormally
What the fault can affect2
- The control module shuts itself off ("bus-off")
