What does this fault code mean?
The airbag control module has been disturbed in its communication on the medium speed CAN network (MS-CAN). The disturbance comes either from another control module on the network or from the module's own messages. It is a general communication fault with no further description.
Possible causes
- Short-circuit between the CAN wiring
- Open-circuit in one of the CAN wires
- Internal fault in another control module on the same part of the CAN network
- Damaged supplemental restraint system control module
What you can do
- 1Read out all fault codes in the car and start with those relating to communication
- 2Have a workshop measure the resistance of the CAN network and check the wiring for open-circuits and short-circuits
- 3Have a workshop disconnect control modules on the network one at a time to find the one disturbing communication
- 4If the airbag control module itself is damaged, have a workshop replace it
- 5Do not work on the airbag system yourself; have a workshop carry out all wiring and control module checks

What the fault can affect2
- The control module shuts itself off ("bus-off")
- It stays off until the power supply is broken; when power is reconnected it tries to communicate again
