What does this fault code mean?
The airbag control module has sent or received incorrect messages to and from the collision speed control module (CVM), and communication on the local sensor CAN network has been shut off. The fault may come from a short-circuit to battery or ground, or from incorrect messages sent by another control module.
Possible causes
- Short-circuit to battery
- Short-circuit to ground
- The fault cause may lie in the control module that sends the incorrect messages
What you can do
- 1Read out all fault codes in the car and start with those relating to communication
- 2Have a workshop check the CAN communication between the airbag module and the collision speed control module (CVM) and look for short-circuits to battery and ground
- 3If no fault is found, have a workshop fault-trace the collision speed control module (CVM)
- 4Have a workshop look for the cause in the control module that sends the incorrect messages
- 5Do not work on the airbag system yourself; have a workshop carry out all wiring and control module checks
Symptoms you may notice2
- Text message in the display
- The SRS warning light comes on or behaves abnormally
What the fault can affect2
- Communication with the local network is cut off by the control module
- It stays off until the power supply is broken; when power is reconnected it tries to communicate again
