What does this fault code mean?
The airbag control module normally receives signals from the passenger weight sensor (OWS), and the code is set when those signals stop. The fault may come from an open-circuit or loose wire between the two, or from a fault in the passenger weight sensor.
Possible causes
- Open-circuit or loose connection in at least one wire between the airbag module and the passenger weight sensor
- The fault cause may lie in the passenger weight sensor, which is the control module sending the signals
What you can do
- 1Read out the fault codes in the car and start with those relating to communication
- 2Have a workshop check the connections, connectors and wiring between the airbag module and the passenger weight sensor for play, contact resistance and oxidation
- 3If the fault remains, have a workshop fault-trace the passenger weight sensor
- 4After a repair, erase the code and see whether it returns
- 5Do not work on the airbag system yourself; have a workshop carry out all wiring and control module checks
Symptoms you may notice2
- Red warning symbol and text message in the display
- The SRS warning light comes on or behaves abnormally
