What does this fault code mean?
This is an event-controlled code. The CEM gets speed data from the brake control module (BCM) and the transmission control module (TCM) and passes it on to the airbag module. The code is set when the airbag module receives invalid speed data, and fault-tracing is done in the BCM and TCM.
Possible causes
- Incorrect vehicle speed information from the BCM or the TCM reaches the central electronic module (CEM)
What you can do
- 1Read out the fault codes in the car; begin with any stored in the BCM or the TCM
- 2Have a workshop fault-trace the BCM and TCM and remedy what is found
- 3After the repair, switch the ignition off, switch it on again and see whether the code is gone
- 4Do not work on the brake system or the airbag system yourself; have a workshop carry out all checks
Symptoms you may notice2
- The SRS warning light comes on or behaves abnormally
- Yellow warning symbol and text message in the display
