Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
8 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The airbag control module checks its own system voltage, and the code is set when the voltage stays too low for a longer period. Causes may be a low battery, a damaged alternator, poor contact or a short to ground in the supply wire.
Possible causes
- A short-circuit to ground in the supply cable
- Contact resistance or oxidation at the connections
- Low battery voltage
- Damaged alternator
What you can do
- 1Have a workshop check the battery's condition and that its terminals are tight and clean
- 2Have a workshop check the alternator's charging function
- 3Have a workshop check the voltage supply and ground connection to the airbag module for short-circuits and contact resistance
- 4After the work, switch the ignition off, switch it on again and see whether the code is gone
- 5Do not work on the airbag system yourself; have a workshop carry out all wiring and control module checks
Symptoms you may notice1
