What does this fault code mean?
The active chassis control module (SUM, Four-C) has seen a signal that is too low from the left front body acceleration sensor at ignition on. Sensors in the corners of the body measure its vertical movement so that the shock absorbers can be adjusted. The equivalent codes for the other sensors are SUM-0061 and SUM-0071.
Possible causes
- Signal wire shorted to ground
- Open circuit or short to ground in the sensor supply
- Poor contact or corrosion in the connectors
- Faulty acceleration sensor
What you can do
- 1Check the connectors at the left front acceleration sensor and at the chassis control module for poor contact and corrosion
- 2Inspect the sensor wiring for damage
- 3Clear the code and complete at least two drive cycles to see whether it returns
- 4If it persists with intact wiring, try a new sensor
Symptoms you may notice3
- General warning lamp on
- Message in the information display
- The active chassis (Four-C) does not work
What the fault can affect1
- Shock absorber control (Four-C) is switched off
