What does this fault code mean?
The suspension module (SUM) has not been able to store fault codes in its memory correctly. This happens when the supply voltage to the module drops while it writes to memory, for example when the starter motor is drawing current, or when the module's memory is defective.
Possible causes
- Voltage drop in the supply to the suspension module while it stores fault codes, for example during starting with the starter motor
- Defective EEPROM memory
What you can do
- 1Check that the battery is in good condition and that the battery terminals are tight, since a voltage drop on starting can cause the fault
- 2Read the fault codes and clear them to see whether they come back
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: read the codes and see whether new codes appear for the front suspension acceleration sensor, which would point to a temporary write fault
- 4If SUM-0209 is the only code that returns: have a workshop replace the suspension control module
