VOLVO
SUM-C110C11 - Left Front Damper Solenoid. General Electrical Failures. Circuit short to ground
System
Suspension Module (SUM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
7 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The suspension control module (SUM) controls the damping in each shock absorber with a solenoid. Here the voltage to the left front damper solenoid has become too low, which is due to a short circuit to ground in the supply wire or a damaged solenoid. Four-C is then switched off.
Possible causes
- Power supply to the solenoid is short-circuited to ground
- Damaged solenoid
What you can do
- 1Read the fault code and check its fault status after a test drive, so you know whether the fault is still present
- 2Use a multimeter to check that the wire to the left front damper solenoid has no contact with ground (the body), with the ignition switched off
- 3Check that the connector at the damper is firmly seated and not corroded
- 4If the wire is sound: have a workshop measure the solenoid resistance and replace the solenoid if needed
Symptoms you may notice2
- Message in the text display
- Four-C does not work
What the fault can affect1
