VOLVO
SUM-C111C11 - Left Front Body Acceleration Sensor. General Electrical Failures. Circuit short to ground
System
Suspension Module (SUM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
7 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The suspension control module (SUM) tracks the body's up-and-down motion using three sensors. The left front sensor sends too low a voltage, which is caused by the signal wire being short-circuited to ground, the sensor lacking its supply, or a damaged sensor. Four-C is switched off.
Possible causes
- Signal wire from the sensor is short-circuited to ground
- Sensor has no supply voltage
- Damaged acceleration sensor
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses for the suspension system are intact, as shown in the owner's manual
- 2Check that the connector at the left front acceleration sensor is firmly seated and not corroded
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire has no contact with ground (the body), with the ignition switched off
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: read the sensor signal in live data while you press down the left front corner of the car, and check that the value changes
- 5If the fault remains: have a workshop check the sensor and the wiring
