VOLVO
SUM-C111E11 - Left Rear Body Acceleration Sensor. General Electrical Failures. Circuit short to ground
System
Suspension Module (SUM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
7 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The suspension control module (SUM) receives too low a voltage from the left rear acceleration sensor. The signal wire may be short-circuited to ground, the sensor may lack its supply, or the sensor may be damaged. Four-C is then switched off.
Possible causes
- Signal wire from the sensor is short-circuited to ground
- Sensor has no supply voltage
- Damaged acceleration sensor
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses for the suspension system are intact, as shown in the owner's manual
- 2Check that the connector at the left rear sensor is firmly seated and not corroded
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire to the left rear sensor has no contact with ground (the body), with the ignition switched off
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: read the sensor signal in live data while you press down the left rear corner of the car, and check that the value changes
- 5If the fault remains: have a workshop check the sensor and the wiring
