What does this fault code mean?
The fault code is labelled bus off, but it concerns an open circuit in the circuit to mode indicator 2 in the Four-C switch. The driving-mode indication then fails to appear, and Four-C cannot be shown correctly on the switch.
Possible causes
- Poor contact from oxidation or contact resistance in the connectors
- Open circuit in the power supply wire to the mode indicator
- Open circuit in the ground wire to the Four-C switch
- The Four-C function switch is damaged
What you can do
- 1Check the connector at the Four-C switch for looseness or oxidation
- 2Use a multimeter to check that the wires to mode indicator 2 and the ground wire are not broken, with the ignition switched off
- 3Try the switch and see whether the indication for driving mode 2 returns after the test drive
- 4If the wires are sound: have a workshop check the switch and replace it if needed
Symptoms you may notice1
- The driving-mode indication in the Four-C switch does not appear
