VOLVO
SUM-U200D11 - Control Module Output Power A. General Electrical Failures. Circuit short to ground
System
Suspension Module (SUM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
7 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The SUM supplies voltage to several of the Four-C sensors. The supply to the sensors on output A has too low a voltage, which can mean a short circuit to ground. Output A supplies the body acceleration sensors and the height sensors for the right front and right rear wheels.
Possible causes
- The supply to one of the sensors is short-circuited to ground
- Damaged sensor
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and road test to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the relevant fuses are intact; their locations are in the owner's manual
- 3Check the connectors at the sensors on output A: the height sensors for the right front and right rear wheels and the body acceleration sensors
- 4Inspect the wiring to the sensors for chafing and pinch damage, especially where it moves with the suspension
- 5Use a multimeter to check that the supply wires have no contact with ground, with the sensors disconnected
- 6If the fault returns, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the sensors and their supply
Symptoms you may notice2
- A message appears in the information display
- The Four-C function does not work
What the fault can affect1
- The Four-C function is switched off
