Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2001–2009), S80 (1999–2006), V70 (2000–2008), V70 XC / XC70 (2001–2007), XC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
The steering wheel module (SWM) registers that several buttons have been active at the same time, and the fault is present right now. Cruise control and the steering wheel buttons do not work while it is active. Because the fault is permanent, a workshop needs to determine which switch unit causes it.
Possible causes
- Several buttons have been active at the same time
What you can do
- 1Check that no button on the steering wheel or on the cruise control switch has stuck in the pressed position
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool: read the button status on the switch units in live data and check whether any button shows active without being pressed
- 3Since the fault is permanent, have a workshop determine which switch unit or the wiring between two units is at fault
Symptoms you may notice2
- Cruise control does not work at all
- The steering wheel buttons stop working
