What does this fault code mean?
The steering wheel angle sensor, which sits in the steering wheel module (SWM) and counts the number of wheel turns, has logged a fault. The stability functions are switched off while it is present.
Possible causes
- Fault in the steering wheel module (SWM) itself
What you can do
- 1Stability control is switched off while the fault is present, so drive carefully until it has been repaired
- 2Read and note the code, clear it and road test to see whether it returns
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: read the steering wheel turn count in live data and check that it rises and falls as the wheel is turned in both directions
- 4If the fault returns, have a workshop replace the steering wheel module (SWM), since the angle sensor cannot be replaced separately
Symptoms you may notice2
- Traction control warning lamp lit
- The stability control system does not function
What the fault can affect1
- Active yaw control (AYC) is blocked
