What does this fault code mean?
The steering wheel angle sensor reads two code tracks with light diodes. The module (SWM) has logged that the current through the diode circuit is too low. The fault lies inside the module, and the stability functions are switched off while it is present.
Possible causes
- Malfunction inside the steering wheel module (SWM)
What you can do
- 1Stability control is switched off while the fault is present, so drive carefully until it has been repaired
- 2Read and note the code, clear it and road test to see whether it returns
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: follow the steering angle value in live data during a short drive and check that it does not freeze or jump
- 4If the fault returns, have a workshop replace the steering wheel module (SWM), since the angle sensor cannot be replaced separately
Symptoms you may notice2
- Traction control warning lamp lit
- The stability control system does not function
What the fault can affect1
- Active yaw control (AYC) is blocked
