What does this fault code mean?
The steering wheel module (SWM) has detected a missing signal in its communication with the other control modules on the car's CAN network. The fault can sit in the steering wheel module or somewhere else in the network, since the central electronic module (CEM) oversees the communication.
Possible causes
- Fault in communication between the steering wheel module (SWM) and the other control modules
What you can do
- 1Read the fault codes in all control modules, not just the steering wheel module, since the fault may lie in another part of the communication network
- 2Check that the battery voltage is normal, as low voltage can cause communication faults
- 3Clear the fault codes and road test the car to see whether the fault returns
- 4If the fault remains, have a workshop check the steering wheel module (SWM), which is replaced in the event of a permanent fault
Symptoms you may notice2
- The traction control warning lamp is lit
- The stability control function does not work
What the fault can affect1
- Active yaw control (AYC) is blocked
